Happy Fourth of July!

Happy 4th!

Our 4th of July weekend was great. I love summer! On Saturday we ran some errands, cleaned most of the house and then went to the A's game with my parents. It was the fireworks night, so we watched the fireworks after the game. They were spectacular! Both of the kids loved it. The best was that Elizabeth kept holding out her hands because she thought she could catch the fireworks when they were coming down. It was hilarious and adorable.
Sunday Elizabeth was sick so I stayed home with her and when John and Zachary got home we went to my parents home and had salmon. YUM.

Monday we went to our ward's Pancake Breakfast. John led the scouts in doing the flag ceremony and then we had pancakes and sausage and my parents came to see everyone too.

After the eating/talking there was a children's bike parade. It was so cute! We had decorated Zach's bike (sort of...last minute...we'll be on that next year!) They had medals but Zach didn't want his until he crossed the 'finish line'.

Then when he did he got off of his bike and bowed his head a little so I could award him. Made me laugh.
We went home and John got a nap and the kids played and I made a cake! I have seen this flag cake on pretty much every blog in the last week, so I tried it. It was fun (and rich). If I had more cake pans it would have taken an hour to do, it really wasn't hard. We took it over to my parent's home for a BBQ. They got a blow up pool so the kids played for a while in it- luckily the majority of their backyard is shaded, so we just relaxed and ate outside. Coming home a few of our neighbors had their own fireworks show going on in the street, so we stood outside to watch that for a while then put the kids to bed, dreaming of fireworks I'm sure.
