Elizabeth's Party

Elizabeth turned 2!
We had a little party for Elizabeth at my mom's house. I am not a fan of party games, so we just had stuff out for the kids to play with. It ended up being pretty hot and not much shade, but the kids had fun running around and having some lunch. At the end after people started leaving I realized we hadn't sung Happy Birthday, so a few of us sang it and Elizabeth was SO excited it was her name during the song! She sings "Happy Birthday to Elizabeth" almost every day this month. Neither of my kids do well with all of the attention on them, so we didn't do much to make it just about her other than the fact that it was all of her friends :) Also at the end she noticed the presents and got so excited. "my PRESENTS!!" It was cute and fun that she understood that part. She knows which of her toys are from her party and reminds me often :) She gets so excited when she finds out it's someone's birthday! She'll put other people's names in when she sings "Happy Birthday" but usually starts and finishes with "Elizabeth."

Flowers from Dude, and Zachary sneaking crackers (he was allowed to have them whenever, he just thought it was fun to be sneaky. He also told everyone who walked in the door that Grandma Tracey was sneaking Froot Loops.)

Elizabeth is a crack up. She talks SO much. She says full sentences, jokes, colors, shapes, some letters, etc. She orders everyone around all the time. "Daddy, you get me drink? Okay, right now." "You come downstairs with me, okay?" "We gunna play I py! My turn! (I Spy)" "Zachary! You come here- Mommy calling you!" She is SO sweet and just darling. She has the cutest faces and gets SO excited to see us, even just coming downstairs. "Mooooom!!" with a huge smile and hugs my legs. She also has another side. She is a 2 year old after all! She does really badly around other people. Groups especially. She is great at the gym and nursery, but things like being around newer people or being somewhere else she is super clingly. Like, for a half hour clinging to me. Hanging out with us or with her grandparents she is fine, and usually around friends she gets used to the surroundings quickly (especially at parks) but sometimes it takes a long time. Hopefully this is a quick phase we can get through...we have holidays with family coming up!
