Tahoe Weekend

This last weekend we were able to go to Tahoe with some friends! It was amazing. What a fun weekend! Thank you thank you to our parents (both sets) for watching the kids. They each took them for a day and Zachary and Elizabeth have been talking about all the stuff they did nonstop. (park, McDonalds play area, new Cars 2 cars, playing and playing, grandma's church and waking up in a different bed each night are some of the highlights)
Friday was our travel day. The girls (Jennie, Laura, me, Stacie) drove to Roseville for the shops. We went to Anthropologie, Z Gallery, West Elm, Sur La Table, and a few other fun ones. I love looking at those stores and seeing all of the inspiration! It was fun to window shop. We ate at which was really good and fun to build your own burger (I got a veggie burger with pesto- soooo good!)
Then we had to drive out to Jackson and go to Tahoe via Highway 88 (right by girl's camp!) to get to Tahoe because highway 50 was closed. We ended up talking nonstop the entire drive to Roseville and to Tahoe (no shocker there) and it was so nice! Lots of laughing and sharing and more laughing...I loved it!

The husbands got to Tahoe before us and played pool at our place and then found somewhere for dinner. By the time we got there and after going through all the winding roads, us girls weren't super hungry...but we had made the boys wait for us to eat! We ended up at Chevy's and had a fun time.

The next morning I slept in until...almost 10! I haven't done this since 2007. My kids sleep through the night starting around 3 months, so it's not that I don't get a lot of sleep...I just have to go to bed early like they do cause they are early risers! (it's still worth it to have time to ourselves in the evening). It was AMAZING to sleep in! John couldn't sleep in and went and worked out, he is beginning to love his exercise now that we are going to the gym.

We went to Emerald Bay once everyone got ready to go. I am so glad we went! There was a cool waterfall so we parked and walked out to it and then hiked around a little bit. It was a gorgeous view (all the pictures are from there) and so great to get out and see Tahoe for a while. It made me excited to go hiking for camp!
We got some lunch at Port O Subs (really good) and then went shopping at some outlets. The boys scored! JJ, Mike and John all ended up with lots of good stuff. The girls split off and went shopping at Ross where we scored, meanwhile the guys got an ice cream cake for Laura as we were celebrating her birthday on Sunday! After some outdoor mall shopping the girls made it back where we hung out for a while and then went to dinner at a pizza place. It was a fun group and very relaxing, so it was fun wherever we went. We came back and ate cake, played games, and laughed a lot.

We came back to my parents' home to hang out and get our kids! They were both asleep, and when they woke up they were so excited! It was great to get back to them. It was just the right amount of time that they had so much fun and so did we...and I'm pretty sure they didn't miss us at all!
