Zach had his first birthday party! It was such an awesome day! Here is the log of the day, followed by a ton of pictures:

Zach opened presents (very slowly, he needed lots of help from cousin Landon) and he got tons! So many noise-making light-flashing toys that he has played with all morning. And several outfits that are adorable! I love them. PLUS the best was he has an entire wardrobe of winter clothes. Outfits, sweatshirts, sweatpants, socks, shirts, dress shirts, etc. Over 50 pieces that my parents got from BabyGap and The Children's Place! They did it at the after-Christmas sale last year, so they got some awesome deals which we love :) Thanks everyone!
Before the party:
We went out to John's brother Scott's house to hang out with them and John's other brother David's family who were visiting from Idaho for the main event!
David's family took some family photos done by our sister in law Heather, and I decided we should take some of our family! I love how they turned out. Zach also had his own photo shoot where he didn't have any huge smiles for the crowd, but Heather managed to capture some VERY cute pictures.

Then us girls played with the photos on the computer and the boys went to the Golf shop and played with golf clubs. Then we watched the BYU game and ate some sandwiches and headed out at half time to go to my parents house to set up and decorate cakes for the party!

My Favorite
There was a HUGE accident on the way, so it took us forever to get there. My mom frosted all the cakes for us! Thanks mom :)
By the time the game was over and everyone got through traffic, the party finally started. John's sister Lisa and her family came out from Idaho as well! So friends and family arrived and we partied. BBQ and games and some shade and talking :)
Matt and Katie and their girls (John's good friend from Law School)
Zach has a milk allergy, which makes it hard to find things to feed him. One of those things being CAKE! So he had to have a special cake...and by the time it is milk-free it was also gluten-free, wheat-free, nut-free, etc. That is why his cake was huge- we weren't going to share it with anyone else! We had three other cakes for everyone, so we were covered.
Zach was pretty shy for a while about the cake...didn't really want to dig in. After about five minutes he decided he liked it, so he would take off chunks and shove them in his face. He doesn't usually like to get his hands dirty (like sand on the beach) but he sure got messy! I think all the little boys there wanted to dive into the cake(only two little girls! Emma and Lydia! Amberly knows their pain of being one of the only girls...). One year olds just don't appreciate the opportunity they have!

The night ended with Zach getting to sit in his new car seat! He is now a forward-facing boy and loves it. He was laughing (though he did have sugar in his cake and we think he was wired...) and staring out the window. It was so fun to see, even in the dark. I am almost excited to drive today so he can see everything in the light!
Here is a long video of Zach 'eating' his cake:
