Utah

Last week my mom, the kids and I drove to Utah for my sister's wedding. This sums up Elizabeth's afternoon. She was great all morning and then got tired in the afternoon and would not go to sleep. Finally she did, and we stopped in Elko for a Zach break. We got back in the car, switched drivers, and headed to Wendover for dinner. 24 miles to Wendover the empty gas tank light goes on. OOPS. We forgot to get gas...ever since Reno! Mom slowed down and we coasted in to Wendover- phew! It was amazing. And then it was soo incredibly windy and we headed on to Highland. Unfortunately, it was dark by the time we got to the salt flats and there are no lights on that stretch of the freeway (about 100 miles) and it was pouring rain so hard we could hardly see the road markers. I was driving and chewing hard on my gum for sure! A few days later when I was headed back I saw that for part of that stretch there was water about 18 inches down from the road. So 2 lanes and if you went off the road by about 3 feet then it dropped into water. Glad I didn't know that on the way there!

I got a hair cut AND my toes done on the same morning! And we got to have lunch at Dear Lizzy. Thanks to cousins and my mom and Dede for watching the kids at various times that morning and throughout the trip, it was so great!
Zach and Elizabeth LOVED being with cousins. They saw 10 cousins one day (6 from my side 4 Bishops). They played and played and played all week. They are good buddies with their cousins and it made me wish we all lived closer.
Elizabeth is shy when she first meets people (or first in her memory at least) so she wasn't sure about her Great-Grandma. We went to a big dinner with Caitlin's family and Mike's family all together and they had Andes mints...Elizabeth discovered them and LOVED them, so Grandma fed them to her. Worked like a charm! Grandma helped watch her after the wedding while some of us were setting up the reception and she said Elizabeth ran to her several times to give her a big hug. So sweet!

I didn't ever get any pictures from the wedding, it snowed that morning and was sooo cold for our California bones. We went to Cafe Rio and ate in the car (and saw our friends the Moss Family!) and then went to help the family set up the Highland Gardens Nursery for the reception that night. The kids got to play with the cousins again, and we were able to get everything done and it looked great.
Sunday John and I drove home with Zach. We got lucky and my parents offered to take Elizabeth with them Monday morning on the airplane! Zach is a super easy car traveler, he watches shows and movies and talks to us and understands what is going on (like that we won't be home until dark. We got in at sunset and he said 'Hey! It's not dark yet and we're home!) so we had an easy trip home after saying goodbye to John's brother's family.
It was so great to see everyone and play with so many great cousins. I'll post pictures once they are available.
